PBIS

ER Elementary School students are continuously developing as model citizens, thanks to the implementation of the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Support) system. The teacher and administrator PBIS committee was formed years ago to help facilitate the system of positive-behavior supports that acknowledge students for following three basic rules: Be safe, Be responsible, and Be respectful.

In a typical year, students who follow school rules are acknowledged by teachers and staff with "Bee Bucks." Those who earn the required number of Bee Bucks use their "Bucks" to purchase incentives. This year, each classroom continues to follow the three school rules, but incentives are more class specific and individualized. Due to safety precautions, many social incentives have been adjusted as well as some teachers are using electronic tracking (Dojo points) rather than physical Bee Bucks.

Our theme this year  is Go for the Gold. Each month, there is a specific character trait that we focus on as an elementary school. We discuss Growth Mindset, Gratitude, Kindness, Mindfulness, Wellness and Digital Citizenship. Monthly themed Bee Bucks are used and awarded to students demonstrating the character trait in the classroom. Themed Bee Buck earners receive a prize from the school store and are recognized in our monthly community virtual assembly.

While this year looks very different in many ways, we continue to focus on our 3 Bs. Many positive behaviors are seen and celebrated in classrooms throughout the elementary school. Be Safe. Be Responsible. Be Respectful.
